Artist's Comments

'The day's march promised to be warm and tiring work. After some miles, however, the road ceased to roll up and down: it climbed to the top of a steep bank in a weary zig-zagging sort of way, and then prepared to go down for the last time. In front of them they saw the lower lands dotted with small clumps of trees that melted away in the distance to a brown woodland haze. They were looking across the Woody End towards the Brandywine River. The road wound away before them like a piece of string.'

Such beautiful traditional work is so rare theses days - Painter, Photoshop and Manwe knows what else of men's wretched industrial spawns are getting the upper hand.. It seems as if people don't appreciate true art anymore. It's so sad that there are so many wonderful talent with water colours, acrylics and even just ordinary pencil goes unseen. And as all of their work, this deserve alot more attention than it has gotten and probably will(or won't, rather) get. I have never seen such vividness in a watercolour picture before(if I have then I have forgotten it;) (Wink) ). THe shadows looks so incredibly realistic and perfectly executed for the scene that I could do nothing but stare with my eyes wide-open for several minutes. You have once again captured the perfect atmoshpere for a Tolkien scene, and of course just ripped it directly out of the book with your own vision. There are no words enough to decribe how beautiful this is, Pete. The trees, the hobbits, the rest of the envoirment; everything! Let me just say that you inspire me too my friend, much more than you dare to imagine!:D (Big Grin) THis is a fav and no mistake, and I hope so much that it will get noticed!

I really like the feeling of depth and the shadows. The colors fit well together too.
