'The morning came after the day of battle, and it was fair with light clouds and the wind turning westward. Legolas and Gimli were early abroad, and they begged leave to go up into the City; for they were eager to see Merry and Pippin.
It is good to learn that they are still alive,' said Gimli; 'for they cost us great pains in our march over Rohan, and I would not have such pains all wasted.'
Together the Elf and Dwarf entered Minas Tirith, and folk that saw them pass marvelled to see such companions; for Legolas was fair of face beyond the measure of Men, and he sang an elven-song in a clear voice as he walked in the morning; but Gimli stalked beside him, stroking his beard and staring about him.'

Your illustration is so spectacular because it looks like art similar to the style of late dark-age.. where they were very close at understanding the principles of perspective, but not quite there. There is depth, but not accurate, which is awesome.. creative! +FAV +Watchlist
DAMN Pete... I knew you would made a masterpiece worthy of the name, but that it would be this good?? It was Gimli's face wich captured my eyes at first. It's PERFECT. The shades, the beard let alone the expression shows the dwarf's spirit really well. Onward to Legolas; well, as you know I see him as a blond-haired elf. I KNOW that the most logical would be for him to have dark hair, but when I read the books I simply just saw him in my mind with blond hair, and that's how it always has been. But the hair is of course superbly painted as it blows in the wind. Legolas' expression is a bit dull, it doesn't show much feling of anything, but just a bit. And in my opinion you should have made his ear stick out... but I really don't know how you imagine elven ears, so I won't dabble any more about that. Now the clothes are amazing as well. I especially like the shading and the colours. As for the background, it fits in perfect and really shows the streets of Minas Tirith how I imagined them. This is great work Pete my friend, and since I love the relationship between Legolas and Gimli, this is going straight into my favs!
